I think it's important for a person to develop the mindset that taking care of their body is an integral part of their daily lifestyle, not a slog or grind to "get through".
I've been training for many years. One day, I decided to get out from behind my desk and retrain to teach others to do what I love doing - exercise! I'm not an intimidating bikini model or body builder, but I'm obsessed with health & fitness, so I made it my career. There is an overwhelming amount of contrasting information regarding health available these days. I guide my clients with tailored programmes and advice to make improvements, whatever their goals are. My specialty is helping people become healthy, leaner, strong and flexible. Being strong is greatly underrated and being thin is overrated! To have a good body shape and posture, you need to have muscle tone and you need to EAT, not starve! The changes you make to achieve your goals will have the side effect of overall good health inside and out. Don't love the gym? No problem! You don't need a gym membership to be fit. I have the tools to help you, either in my studio, in your home/garden or local park. I have a friendly, open approach and listen carefully to my clients to ensure they're happy and get the results they're after.
To put your mind at ease, in addition to years of training under my belt, I also have full qualifications including pre/post natal training & hold full liability insurance.
PERSONAL TRAINING
Some people prefer the privacy of training at home or a private studio away from prying eyes. It can be daunting to train in public if you're just starting out. I offer very reasonable rates for packages of 10 or 20 sessions. These include nutritional advice to support weight loss & muscle gain. I also do full food diary reviews, to track your progress.
GROUP TRAINING
Alternatively, some people like to be social and train with friends. I also offer bespoke group training sessions. You and your friends can choose which areas you want to focus on and I'll write up a circuit class to suit your needs, for example it might be a "Cardio/Fat burning/Abs" class. I also train people in pairs in my studio.
Getting the core strong is the basis for all exercise. You need to have a strong core for good posture and to ensure you don't injure yourself while training. The widely used word "tone" is muscle! To change body shape you need to build muscle using resistance training, whether its weights, bands, TRX suspension training or simple body weight exercises. Muscles respond to repeated stimulation which ever way you train. The key is to find a style of training that you LIKE!
You can't out train a bad diet! When trying to shed fat the FIRST thing we'll look at is daily eating habits. Making small changes in your routine can significantly cut calorie intake. Eating the right foods at the appropriate time when exercising is also important. The body needs to be fuelled properly to train and to recover. Extreme restrition of food intake or skipping meals rarely helps with weight loss and more often leads to binge eating. I offer tailored meal planning and recipe suggestions to all clients
POSTURE
CORRECTION
People often picture the treadmill, bike or cross trainer at the gym, or perhaps going for a run when they think of cardio exercise. It doesn't have the be that boring! You can do ANYTHING fast and it's a cardiovascular workout. Your heart and lungs don't mind what you do. Circuit training or kick boxing are fun and dynamic ways to get your heart rate up. They're challenging and as you're changing exercise every 45-60 seconds, never boring. They can also be adapted specifically to individual ability.
Modern life, with our desk jobs and addiction to mobile phones and tablets means we're often spending too much time in the wrong position. This causes the spine to curve forward into quite an unnatractive shape and can lead to permanent postural issues as you age. Correcting these habits by strengthening the core and back and developing a stretching routine to lengthen tight muscles can help reverse the effect of years of hunching over your phone!

Prices
I believe that personal training should be affordable and accessible and my prices reflect this. Personal training as a pair is a great way to save money as long as both people have similar ability and can do the same program (adjustments can be made within reason for different abilities/levels) Consultation is a free informal chat at the venue of your choice to discuss your goals.
